Henry’s room,
left,
is a study in patience and
smart shopping. Trenna had been searching for
great old school maps since Henry was born. “The
big ones were very expensive, so I couldn’t do it,”
she says. She finally found one for $20 at a flea
market and cut it to fit a standard roller shade kit.
The bed was another bargain find—a discontinued
retail floor sample.
In the master bedroom,
below
and
opposite,
Trenna found ways to reinvigorate old pieces. She
added iron rods to her four-poster to create a
canopy. She modernized an old wooden chair w
ith
orange paint and pulled a former office desk into
service as a roomy bedside table. “It’s so nice to
have a larger surface there,” she says.
Like her mom’s room, the walls and
basic bedding in Hadley’s bedroom,
above,
form a simple white
backdrop. The room
is dressed
up w
ith a few shots of color from
decorative pillows and throws.
